Just Plain

Will I
re-appear at some later time
in another
life?
I’m
enjoying reading the weekly posts by author and writer Steven Pressfield, WRITING WEDNESDAYS. One past post entitled The Muse and Me, Part 2,
includes the question I’ve posed as the focus of this weekly blog.
The
possibility of someday appearing in the role of another has occasionally crept
into my consciousness, and even has been seen as a sketchy possibility in a
dream or two.
Am
I in complete control of my thoughts, actions and feelings, or am I influenced
by the power of a muse?
These
thoughts are especially relevant as we enter a new year, one that is filled
with more questions than answers considering the actions of our country’s
leadership following our last election. Many things once seen as absolutes (one
of my favorite concepts) are now not so “certain”, and I’m forced to decide
from options that in earlier times would never have been considered, especially
when it comes to basic human rights.
I’m
hoping that a year from now I will be more optimistic about life’s honor and
glory.
Peggy
Lee, a famous singer from the middle of the last century, recorded a song entitled
Is That All There Is? In addition to the message of melancholy and wistful wonder,
I hear this song as a song of doubt, or hope, and a dream.
We
shall see!
